Offbeat Ink (Neurodivergent Writers)

Hey there.

If you’re over boring writing advice that feels like it came from a dusty old textbook, or worse, it just feels like you have to follow so many rules that don’t align with who you are as an individual—you’re in the right place.

I work with writers who don’t fit the cookie-cutter mold—queer, “quirky,” neurodivergent, fiercely original folks who are ready to write on their own terms.

What does that mean? No rigid rules. No snooze-worthy exercises. Let’s make your writing process and the way you look at writing less stuffy.

My courses are intuitive, thoughtful approaches that are all about you and what makes your voice stand out. We’ll dig deep, have some fun, and unlock your true potential.

Sound like your vibe?

Do you want some quickie advice? Like, right now, and not six months from now or during a boring Zoom call?

That’s great, but you still want to go deeper?

First thing I tell my clients stuck at the starting line, is “stop asking permission to run.” That’s of course a metaphor for getting started…but you knew that.

You’re clever, and you know you have talent. But still, you’re stuck.

People will always dump platitudes on you. They tell you it’s a sprint not a marathon, and while that is true, I don’t think it gets to the heart of the true problem.

If you are an AuDHD’r like me, sometimes you need clarity and understanding. I will do my best to give that you, but I will also give you a bit of a kick in the pants.

We use this excuse all the time: the blank page.

I don’t know what to write.

I can’t write.

I’m not any good at writing.

I want to write but I don’t have a story in me.

All of this stuff is crap.
Stop saying it.

You heard me.

I know, it’s easier said than done to just stop all the negative self-talk. It’s a learned behavior drilled into your creative actions.

You might have even convinced yourself that it’s part of your process to stare at the page and wait for the words to come.

I say, “No it isn’t.”
You might even say, “Yes it is,”

And I’m sorry, but no it isn’t. Telling yourself you suck and humbling yourself to the point of creative paralysis is the outside world’s doing and not your own.

Your intuition is what DRIVES you to write. And you are standing at the starting line for a reason. Is it because you know you already have a story to write?

Of course you do. So, stop asking permission to write it.

We all have a story to write. It’s called our life.

And that story is valid and worth telling.

“But I want to write fiction,” you say. “No problem,” I say. The first step is knowing that all GOOD fiction stories come from truth. Once you realize this, yours will flow out of you.

But you’re still scared to get started?

Ask yourself these questions:

Have you been letting people tell you that you can’t tell your story?

Have you been intentionally forgetting parts of your life hoping they go away?

Do you feel like you have a story that needs telling from your POV before someone else tells it in theirs?

It’s time for you to fill the blank page.
